$ 2 million worth of skins lost after OPSkins shut down
A few weeks ago, Valve announced its decision to end the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive skin trading rights owned by the OPSkins website. Finally, the American company has kept its word and banned more than 2800 accounts with nearly $ 2 million worth of skins in their inventories.
The dispute between the developers of CS: GO and the company in charge of the site OPSkins started on June 8th. (purchase and resale of skins: OPSkins) It was on that date that Valve announced that it had sent a cease and desist order to the company. Which is now a dead skins market. Valve had then indicated that they would ban all the accounts belonging to OPSKINS. That are being used in the context of the exchanges of skins starting from June 22, 2018.
Finally, this Thursday more than 2884 bots saw their access denied to the blocked trading system. Only, after this maneuver, a Reddit user known as W1Z0, has not only managed to develop a system counting the total number of skins found excluded from the market. But also the total value of such an inventory. Thus, based on the official list of OPSKINS bots, all clustered in a Steam group, the developer was able to count 2843 accounts in possession of 1,502,689 skins. The developer then, based on the latest known values of each skin, calculated that the total pot had a market value of $ 1,966,510.86.
Of course, this value is only theoretical since it is extremely difficult to know the value of certain skins qualified as exceptional and sold for sums exceeding $ 50,000. AWP Dragon Lore Souvenir was sold for $ 61,000 after Major ELEAGUE won by Cloud9. However, W1Z0 noted the presence of extremely rare elements in some inventories such as Team Dignitas Holo stickers dating from IEM Katowice 2014. And AWP Electric hive covered with stickers obtained during this same event. In the shared document on reddit, we can also notice that the bot named [OPSKINS] Bot # 1516, had more than $ 21,000 of skin, the record sum recorded.
These figures are quite surprising to see a newbie owning so many highly valued skin. However, Valve has time and again showed that it just doesn’t care about any skin trading site no matter how many legal arguments the owners of the site present. No one knows what OPSkins will do with so many skins, guess he could play with them.
Valve claimed, “From the Main Menu to the Scoreboard, the entire experience of interacting with the game has been updated,”. Unfortunately, it’s not actually finished, and so this release only supports the “practice with bots” option, either solo or with a friend.
The arrival of Panorama UI was highly anticipated. If you want to take advantage of this new presentation, it is available via the beta system. To add it, go to your Steam library, right click on your CS: GO game, go to the “BETA” tab and select the beta program: “Panorama – Panorama UI Preview”. An update adding the Panorama UI will then be downloaded and available at the next start of your game.
